Scottish International Air Show 2015
The Scottish Air Show happens in early September every year and is held on a Saturday & Sunday. This is one of the best air displays to take photos as the action takes place in front of you above the sea.
On the Saturday the main display is held at Ayr seafront and is a free event. Just turn up. This is your chance to try challenging photography with fast jets and slow prop planes. Best place for an uninterrupted view is right down on the beach and in front of the commentary and VIP section as this is the main focal point of the display. It feels like the Red Arrows are doing their bit just for you.
On the Sunday there is an Aircraft Exhibition at Prestwick Airport which allows you to get up close to the aircraft that flew on the Saturday. This is a paid event at £15 (2015). You also get the chance to see the exhibits taking off and landing from the airport.
Why not plan a few days to Ayrshire and take in its many sights to whet your photographic appetite.
