Scottish International Air Show 2016

This years air show which displays from Low Green, Ayr was held on Fri 2nd & Sat 3rd September 2016.

As a change to the format we got a stunning evening show on the Friday which allowed us to see the AeroSparx Display Team with its LED clad planes shooting off fireworks and the RAF Typhoon with it’s afterburners in full flow. It culminated with a firework display from Ayr Pier.

Weather wasn’t great this year which made for challenging conditions for photography. Never good pointing cameras in the air when it is raining. The grey skies also made for focussing and exposure head scratching.

The Saturday display which included a 25-min full low-level display by the Red Arrows was a bit brighter and any rain showers be it slight or torrential saved themselves for the break and afterwards.

Again if you are looking for a day out and free display, head to Ayr. You won’t be disappointed as the promenade is perfectly situated for the display to be right in front of you with ample room for camera bags, tripods etc.
