Alicante
September 2022 and it was with slight trepidation that our first trip abroad for 3 years and post-Covid was booked.
Good reports had come in about Alicante so it seemed a good location to head to for a weeks break. Don’t be put off by hen/stag parties on the flight heading off to Benidorm. You soon leave them behind at the airport. The city is a short 20min bus journey from the airport to the city centre by the marina.
A couple of streets back from the marina and you will be in the hubbub of cafes and restaurants. You won’t go hungry or thirsty.
Must see’s are the old town and up to the Castell de Santa Bàrbara for fine views of the city. We took a tram journey up to Altea to the north of Benidorm. Known as the Santorini of Spain you can take a wander along its narrow streets lined by white washed houses and relax in the squares.
